Default WOTLK Raid Information

Darkness Hellfire is currently using the in game calendar system for raid invites. Please check it frequently to see if there's a raid and respond appropriately.

Please understand that no one is guaranteed a raid spot. If you'd like to come, sign up and make it known before raid invites go out. While our raiding team is growing, some people might have to be put into queue. Although you may not get invited from time to time, please know that your raid leaders are doing everything they can do to be as fair as possible to everyone, while maintaining a successful and balanced group for the night. If you can only raid on one particular night a week, let the raid leaders know and they will do what they can to get you in on that day.

Understand the Loot System

Darkness Hellfire is using a roll based system. You are allowed 1 epic per person, per night.

If you are interested in an item for your main spec, roll a traditional 1 100 (/roll). If you win the item, it will be the only item you get that night unless something is defaulted to you.
If you want an item for an off spec or if it's only a minor upgrade (i.e. +2SP/+2MP5), roll a /1. The /1 roll simply shows your interest in an item. If no one in the raid rolls a 1 100, there will be a roll off between the people who rolled /1. The person with the next highest roll will win the item.

If an item is a significant upgrade, you must roll 1 100. Over the course of our WOTLK, we've noticed that a few people occasionally roll /1 when the item they are after is a significant upgrade (i.e. blue to purple), simply because they know no one else is after the item and they want to keep their rolls open for later, more sought after, items. This will not be tolerated. If an item is of a significant upgrade, roll 1 100. With that said, use common sense. If an item is only a +2SP/2MP5 upgrade, it is perfectly acceptable to roll a /1.

General Raiding Principles

Be Punctual

Please don't show up at 8pm. 8pm is not invite time; 8pm is start time. By 8pm you should be in the instance already. Your armor should be fully repaired; your reagents
should be stocked; and you should have sufficient food/flasks/pots for a 2-3
hours of raiding.

If you know you're going to be a little late, let a raid leader know and they will do what they can to accommodate you. Please understand that this isn't always possible. Additionally, if you know you have to leave early, please let the raid leader know *prior* to invites. It is very difficult to continue a raid when multiple people have to leave early.

Be prepared

It's not really fair to show up for a raid in blues/greens and expect folks
to carry you through and gear you up. For as little DPS as you're doing at
that point...and for as much healing as you need to keep alive...the raid
would be better off to leave the spot empty.

There's a *lot* of good gear you can get via crafting, reputation grinds,
and heroics. Frankly, some of the heroic items are on par with Naxx gear.
Take a look at the major factions and figure out who has items you need;
talk to your crafter friends and find out what they can make you and what
mats you need to gather.

Also, enchant your gear and put in decent gems. If the gear's not high-end,
you can still put on a decent/cheap enchant and be doing that much more
damage/healing.

Know the Fights

You don't have to do a *ton* of research, but you should at least go to
wowhead.com and read over the boss strategy. Maybe even read the comments people have put up on the boss. Pay attention to how the fight changes from
10-man to 25-man.

You don't need to know the fight by heart; you need to know enough that the
raid leader can remind you of the key points and you're set to go.

Know What Loot You're After

Don't take loot that's bad for you. You should have an idea of what loot you
want before you go into the instance. There are plenty of web sites that
make gear recommendations.

If all else fails, just ask over vent/raid. "Is that a good ring for a
destro lock?"

Focus While in Raid

Please turn off the TV that you're watching while raiding. Please close the
web browser you're alt-tabbing to. Please move the cat off your lap. Please
explain to your significant other that you're not available for tech support
tonight. For the boss fights at least, please focus all of your attention on
the fight. It's no big deal to fail due to lag, gear, or bad luck. All we ask is that you give it your all.
